alright well overall would both you guys recommend the Vitaras? Even if i dont up the boost, which i mean i might in the future, but for now i wanna keep it mellow at the 8 psi its gated at already. Good idea? And what about just hte pistons without rods for now?

Why take the engine apart twice?

Do it all at once, nothing at all wrong with Vitara's, they're great pistons for the money.

But seriously, if you're only going to keep it at 8psi with the turbo you have, why not just rering the engine? That would be the easiest and cheapest way to do it, the stock engine can hold the power you want to make no problem.

+1, if you EVER want to finish this thing, don't start to overcomplicate it

Honestly, if one of your cylinders is showing too low compression then I would put the turbo project on hold until you get it fixed/rebuilt. I think vitaras with 8psi would be alright for awhile but your going to get bored with it soon enough and want to turn up the boost.

rings are really all i'm worried about, but i was just thinking while i had it open i might do it right once....but you're right about it complicating it even more and just taken longer, and i want boost more than any of you (with it being so close), so anything maybe i'll just re-ring it. Thanks guys

Just boost it as it is. At low boost its going to be awhile before anything goes, as long as its tuned right. Then you can save for internals while youre already boosted. In all honesty this has got to be the longest turbo process I have ever heard of. I mean hell, during this whole "flips turbo project" sov and I have both crashed our cars and fixed them already, he crashed his 2X......Just get this damn project done with already.

Mobsta being out of a steady job and being in college is not easy for a boost project, but finally getting like $150 a week (would work more but i have 18 credit hours, so i'm happy, even if its not THAT much, i dont care [8D]), so it should come togetehr quick now.....but anyway what i thought was right about losing a bit of power, but i'm just leaving it internally gated for now, might get a manual boost controller and up it a little bit, but i havent heard good things about my turbo over 10-12 psi [&:]oh well, thanks guys
I'm in the exact same prediciment. My car has been up on stands for about a month and a half. Almost finished... lol i think i've been saying that the past three weeks.
