New to Turbo Hondas.

I just joined to the forum because I have not the slightest clue of what I'm doing. I know what I want, but I don't know how that's possible. I know a bit about Turbos and a little bit about Hondas, but Turbo Hondas are new to me. if that makes sense.
I want to Turbo charge a regular 95' Civic DX Sedan bone stock engine (1.5 non vtec). DON'T WORRY ABOUT SPACE ISSUES, OR CLEARANCE ISSUES EITHER. This is a project car, and some very heavy modifications with be done to the body to make everything fit. Just tell me what I need to get 280 hp ish, and follow the guidlines below.
260-300 hp
Garrett or Greddy turbo. I'd prefer to stay away from HKS.
Reasonable gas mileage (20-25 MPG)
Reliable (turn key car, so I don't have to tweek every 2 days like my Maserati)
NO LOUD exhaust. My family would kill me.
I know that the original Civic tranny can't take a heck of a lot more, so I'm wondering a good upgrade is. I'd also like a TALL final gear so I'm not running 4000 rpms at 75.
What GASKET SETS do you guys recommend? Engine will be torn down completely for a rebuild. What engine strengthening material do you suggest? Pistons, rods, bearings, kits?
What types of INTERCOOLERS, hoses (Turbo oil return lines, etc.), radiators (for the increased heat load), and other accesories are choice? Thanks for listening guys, I hope to get a cool project underway.

i don't know much about the stock dx motors but i would say get a good sized garrett turbo, maybe the t3/t4 .57 trim and .60 a/r. the big thing on hondas and i think any turbo is the tune that follows your turbo install, this is where your reliabilty comes in. you want to go and get it tuned at a local place or a person. are you going to be running stock exhaust? because if you are, you are going to want to go bigger for the air flow. any intercooler will work, just make sure it can handle the horsepower you want.

How many miles do you have on your engine? Another possibility you could look at would be an engine swap. You could pick up a b18b1 for alot cheaper than rebuilding your d series and with a good tune they can handle up to 300hp on stock internals. A good tranny upgrade would be the ls tranny aswell. As for exhaust, you might want to look into one with a silencer.

A silencer most likely won't be necessary with a turbo. My exhaust was pretty loud before, but sounded good. Now with the turbo on there, it sounds damn near stock. Just get some 2.5" piping with a 3" dp and you'll be golden.
I looked into swapping the engine, but I had a few su****ions.
First, I had a VTEC engine that lost the VTEC solenoid and cost me a huge amount of fundage. So, I'm really trying to stay SOHC without VTEC, which is what I got. The engine is close dying (lots of miles), so I'm rebuilding it anyway. I'm going to drop in a lot of heavy stuff (strengthened everything), to handle the turbo, and at the same time, keep my SOHC reliability. I'm willing to drop 6 grand into a car that will run another 10 years.
I also wanted to stay 1.5 liter for MPG reasons, but I'm not sure how much it will differ.
I can't find anything in terms of kits for a D15, so I guess I'll piece mine together. If anyone has any info on D15 turbos, I'd like help.

Uhhhh..."tweek every 2 days like my Maserati" Man, if you honestly have a Maserati why would you even mess with a turbo 1.5. Now, i love my civic man, not getting down on them at all, just saying WOW, if i could afford a maserati, i might have started with a higher platform for a turbo project (supra, 06 STI, Skyline) you know, somthing that a maserati owner can afford from his pocket change.

Booooo to those two losers up there. haha jk.. but theres nothing wrong with having a project car and learning. If your looking to stay away from VTEC it doesn't mean you have to stay with a SOHC engine. My best advice would be to pick up a b18b1 and rebuild that engine. Internals are also cheaper for a B series since people rework b series alot more than D's.

The Maserati isn't a very expensive one, and honestly. Ever heard of a TC? Look er up to see what I mean. They're only about $3-4K on ebay.
I'd much rather have the Civic as a driver than the TC. Sure, it's a Maserati, but it's nothing like the Cambriocorsa and Ferrari powered sports cars like they are now.
