I would only use nitrous if i had the Nx NTERCOOLER kit........but how often would i use it? I went the turbo route so i wouldnt have to constantly fill up a bottle.

I agree turbo lag is a joke! A few years ago my dad had a porshe (993) turbo with over 450bhp, but you'd floor the throttle at 1500rpm in 4th and a turbo diesel golf would pull away from it. Of course 5 seconds later when the turbo actually started to come into play (3000 rpm or so) the car would shoot up the road as fast as anything, and then through you into a tree...

I forgot to ask in my original question - how long would a tank of nitrous (is it No2 in periodic table terms?!) last (are we talking seconds, minutes?) if I was to floor the throttle and keep it there??

Pete, you must see this guy's car in action. He's got a loooooooot of money, and has literally spent days on the dyno getting tuned. His turbo doesn't spool until about 4k, and the nitrous just helps him get there.

It's been a while since I've seen him. But next time I do, i'll be sure to have my camera handy.

2 seconds of turbo lag is a lot on a 8th mile track... i think i heard somewhere that a 10lb bottle will last a little over 2 mins straight on a 50 shot.

Turbo lag is not a joke with bigger turbo's. And the reason n2o is used is to help spool a larger turbine on a engine that will not spool it till around halfway through it's revrange. There is a local with a teg that has a built B18C1 and a big t3/t4 and he only makes like 100whp till around 4000rpm. So when he is at the track he shoots a 50 shot wet in and it helps tremendously on launches because if he launches under full boost he will spin clear past the 60 foot mark. Anytime you can produce a flatter hp and tq curve it is better no matter what car you are talking about.

Oh i agree with the fact that it will help but i bet it just adds to the risks of breaking something.......However on a small turbo putting boost#s under 20PSI is it really worth it?

It depends really, I would not go doing this on a stock engine but once again I would not be using a turbo big enough to need n2o on a stock engine either. N2O has a very bad rep because with it's price being so low people get it w/o research and blow crap up then all of a sudden it's the n2o that did it not the user.

on a dd turbo car nitrous is not needed because there isn't enough turbo lag to really need it
