over played topic....
ok so im sure this an overplayed topic that you guys have answer millions of times, but i didnt feel like searching for an hour. so my buddy with a 96 civic ex coupe is looking into getting a turbo kit. he still has the d16y8.....with about 80000 miles on it i think. the local performance shop quoted a greddy turbo kit for 2000. and instalation and tuning would be about 600. so what are some recomendations? would a metal head gasket be in order? what is a good boost level to get it tuned at? they are fairly good at tuning. is there another turbo kit that would be better. maybe the elderbrock one. im awair that he would need to perchase a FMIC and a BOV for the greddy kit.. also what kinda dyno numbers should he expect at different boost levels?? thanks for any help.
lol^^^ but if i could get a few extra bucks i would get the edelbrock kit because it comes with everything you need and dont have to really tune it because you just bolt everything together and plug somethings in and you are set to hit the streets, but if you get a turbo kit from greddy get it off ebay brand new for like 1400 bucks and get a 200 dollar front mount and then the 600 dollars for a tune so that would put you right around 2200 bucks
well i did try searching, but only for 15 minutes. at least i made an effort right? ok so my next question, can you tune the elderbrock kit with what it come with? he also has a vafc II ....can you tune it with that? if not will it interfear in a negative way at all? what is a sugusted route to take with tuning?
