Default parts Checklist

im not planning on buying any of this until i do a ton more research but i just want to give my parts list that ive writtenso it can be reviewed and critiqued by someknowledgeable people so they can tell me if im missing anything vital or suggest adding some other items.

so far i have a apexi ws2 catback with a testpipe and aem CAI (bought when i thought i was gonna run a SC'er ) and im running a 99 ex d16y8.

im planning on buying a godspeed t3/t4 turbo, i know its an ebay turbo, but its not one of the cheap cheapones and i have read in a couple forums how the ebay turbos are starting to getit togeather and u just have to keep them well maintained with a great tune and they will treat you well.

Hereiswhat comes with the kit im thinking about:
-t3/t4 hybrid turbo
-Intercooler 27x6.5x3 (Direct Bolt-on)
-2.25" Aluminized Mandrel Bent Piping (Total of 4)
-High Pressure Silicon Hose (Total of 6)
-Clamps (Total of 21)
-Cast Iron Turbo Manifold
-2.5" Stainless Steel Downpipe
-Stainless Steel Connect pipe
-Stainless Steel Dump Pipe
-Blow Off Valve
-7 PSI Wastegate
-Valve Set For Wastegate
-Gasket Kit For Wastegate
-Steel Braided Oil Feed Line
-Oil Return Line
-Oil Pan Fitting
-Necessary Vacuum Tee's
-Necessary Vacuum Lines
-Necessary Gaskets and Bolts
-Necessary Hardware

Along with the kit i am planning on buying:
-Rc440 Fuel Injectors
-P28 Chipped ECU
-One Step Colder Denso Spark Plugs
-Obd2b-obd1 Conversion Harness
-air/fuel, turbo boost, and oil pressure gauges
-Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump
-Sandwhich Adaptor
-Oil Restrictor
-Turbo Timer
-ARP Headstuds
-OM Vacuum Manifold (ebay?)

Before Turboing:
-Compression and Leakdown Test

After Dyno and tune:
-Exedy Stage 1 clutch? Or 2? Depending On My Goals By then i suppose
-Exedy Flywheel

thats what i want on when i get the turbo strapped down, and head to the tuner. i got the money just need to do the research, and get some advice from some vets. a lot of the places i go to look stuff up describe stuff are to technical for me atm orare to vagueso im pretty sure this list is pretty lacking in some areas.

thank you for your insight

p.s. if i buy a chipped p28 ecu would the basemap its set at be safe enough to drive my car to the tuner or should i haul it?

and one more question, of about 1 million one more questions lol. i dont understand the "crome" or "neptune" or stuff like that, do u have to install it onto your ecu? and if i get http://www.stealthmodeperformance.com/fuel-ECUs.shtmlfor an ecu will i have to still puta different program on there or will it have some sort oftuneable program on there already. cant figure that out [&:]

Do you know what brand names these parts are or have any pictures? that would help in determining if they are any good. also with the turbo itself you want to make sure that it is a quality one (not too sure that ebay ones are). Personally i would not getthe godspeed one, stick to good companies like garret, greddy or turbonetics.

Also you can piece together a kit for cheap instead of buying a kit, but if you do get a kit then i would stick with a brand name like greddy or drag. (i have a drag kit on my car and am very happy with it.)

Something else to add to your list is a compression and leakdown test to check the condition of your motor and make sure it's ready for boost. I would not get a fuel rail or fuel pressure regulator b/c you don't really need it. Your stock rail is fine and fpr are mostly of looks imo.

Yes the basemap will ok to drive to the tuner just stay out of boost to be on the safe side.

Just have your ecu chipped w/ a basemap and drive it to the tuner. when you get there the tuner will have either crome, neptune etc. on his computer and will use it burn a new "tuned" basemap for your application and place it into your ecu. Hope this helps and keep researching!!

turbo timer i was lookin at was a greddy, and the gauges were just some cheap ebay ones, figured theyd be fine but im probably wrong, i dont want to spend 70 bucks a gauge though[:@]think thats only thing i didnt put a label on

i want the car basically as a dd, i think ill be fine with the godspeed turbo if im not abusing it constantly, but i may rethink in the upcoming months im sure.

other than that does the list seem complete? did i leave out any crucial parts? or is there anything else i should not worry about besides the aem fuel rail and regulator?

Your list looks pretty good, I have read a lot about the ebay turbo's lasting with a restrictor too, I personally will stick to my Garrett. Just be careful with the wastegate.

Crome, Neptune, Hondata, etc... they're tuning software. Hondata and Neptune have RTP boards that you plug into the P28 and holds all of the mapping and options information. Crome software is stored on a 28pin eprom that is soldered directly into the phyiscal P28 board. When you get an ECU from a seller, generally it has an overly rich basemap on it. My suggestion would be to get it trailered to the dyno if it all possible, as basemaps are hit or miss. The tuner will revise all of the mapping on the chip (if you go with crome, RTP board if you pay for the others) to fit your car exactly by running it on the street and running it on the dyno.

As far as gauges go, don't get ebay ones. Go with cheaper autometer ones, mine were like 30-40 a pop and they work well and look good.

i didnt see it up there, but a vacuum manifold really cleans things up in the bay, but looks like you've thoguht this through pretty good good luck! Oh, and along with the injectors i think you need a resistor box (to lower the impedance) and new clips

No, RC injectors don't need a resistor box. Plug and Play FTW

+1 for vacuum manifold, only $30 and makes installs quicker and cleaner.

as far as I know the D16y8 stock block is only good for like 220whp.

Default RE: parts Checklist

when u say block u mean the pistons and connecting rods correct? i know its a noob question but im still learning! please tell me i cant get more than 220 horse unless i swap the bottom end out.

220 horse is fine for a while but i do plan on beefing up internals. camshaft/valves/valve springs/cam gears/piston rods/connecting rods. but illstart drilling you allabout thatafter i get myself turbod.

im starting my build very soon, but what is some good advice for preparation forthe turboinstallation? im bringing it into the shop soon to fix a small oil leak, then im gonna run seafoam through it, and then im planning on running synthetic oil. and a basic 100,000 mile tune up. my car has 108,000 on it, ive put 30,000 on and i wish i would have made it fun sooner, lol

and i will add the vacuum manifold to the list thx for the tip seems that will be a huge help when connecting all the lines, but im just getting started

and sorry to ask again, but about how much whp / wtq can a exedy stage 1 clutch handle? thats a big decision for 450-600 bucks [&:]

and lol, i do have another question, this time about boost controllers. say i do end up buying the godspeed t3/t4 turbo, its set at 7psi from the factory correct? if i use a boost controller wouldi be able to increase the psi farther than that?

BONUS!! i just found out that my pops good friend that lives 1/4 mile away has a dyno shop in his backyard, he runs a 1100 whp drag car, built everything himself, tuned himself and is a god of 1/4 runs runs them at 180+ mph. can you all say free tuning? i almost fainted when my dad told me about him after i was talking about turboing my car. now im 100% into this and i need all your help i can get, i have a 2007 f350 work vehicle so i may just go nuts on this, my town hosts eve of destruction spectator races 5 times a year and i would love to walk all over those old mustangs and comaros, and that one subii that always shows up.

me and my dad run a fabrication business, i came across this site and instantly realized i should have done this months ago, i gotta build this car fast, and safe as possible because im getting married next february, newlywed wife will not like me spending our money onMY civic. (GF/Wife over car Sorry)

again, thank you all for all the help, i cant belive how much im learning. keep it coming you guys rock.
