Default Piping and reccomendations

If I buy a turbo kit for a d17 will I still need to cut into the car like in the diy, or should the piping fit without any modification to the car.

Also if I am looking to put down about 160whp - 180whp should I just use petes list and add some fuel management or should I go with a full kit because the d17 is a bitch?

you are going to need fuel management no matter what turbo kit you run. also you are going to have to modify you car somehow so the piping will fit.

NO matter what kit you go with, it's always going to require some cutting here and there. It's really simple though, just get yourself a die grinder and a cutting wheel and you'll be money. You shouldn't have to modify the car intself, but rather the piping. THe only thing I had to cut on my car were the black plastic water gaurds.

ahh thank you that answers some questions, however would it be better to buy a kit or use the list because the list is significantly cheeper but im not sure how safe it would be on my engine from all the things I hear.

(Thanks for answering all my silly questions. I've still got alot to learn before I start to buy my parts)

it doesnt matter what you get, turbos make your engine less reliable. i would follow pete's grocery list and go off of there. or if you going for a kit, there is the greddy kit for d series and they are really good, but i would replace the fuel engine management on the greddy kit. also i would think piecing you own kit together would be better, so you know what every part does. all i can say is research, research and research somemore man.

Well what I ment is that would it be more reliable for a kit than peicing it together myself. I know what most of the parts to in general already, but still not enough to trust myself installing it.

And what makes the peiced together kits so much more expensive, at least for 01-05 civies.

pieced together kits are ALWAYS cheaper unles you're going all out on a super high end build.

Full Kits (which I assume is what you're talking about) are more expensive because they have a big brand name on them, and usually include every last item you need for a full install

also if you piece your own kit together you can get used items and not all brand new items, thus making it cheaper for you.
