Default Potential BIG problem.

Today when I was cruizing with my buddies all of a sudden I noticed my air/fuel guage was all the way in the red and my fuel guage moved from a fourth tank to nearly emtpy. I immedietly pulled over and turned the car off. As I poped the hood I noticed a powerfull smell of gasoline. Theres also a puddle on the ground. Examining the fuel lines I came to discover one of my rubber fuel hoses had a hole in it and leaked the gas, thus explaining why I ran lean. We cut the piece with the hole and connected the hose back up. Now, the car ran fine, but the air/fuel guage quit working. The entire face was black, no reading at all. I then drove to the gas station and the car ran fine, air/fuel guage still not functioning. Later that night we cruised to a party, and my car starting bogging down very badly when I gave it little gas to accelerate. Bogging persisted untill I stopped driving. On the way home the car once again startding running fine no bogging down at all, and my air/fuel guage starting working fine also. But, it was in the red almost the entire time. I need advice. Im wondering if I blew the motor. The guage shows Im running lean everytime I give it some gas, leans out even more when I press on the pedal. Im wondering when I had that gas leak, and I didnt know it, and I boosted and the fuel wasnt there to back the air up, and if I blew something inside the engine. Any advice any one? Im stuck on whats going on. This is a huge problem as I dont want to drive the car anymore with out knowing exactly whats wrong.

Also, the car idles fine, no knocking or any unusual noises that I noticed. Im wondering if maybe the plugs are fouled. How about fuel pump failing? Anyone?

If you are talking about one of those little lighty up things people like to say is a air fuel gauge take it out and throw it in the trash. Get a wide ban o2 man. As far as the bogging I'd check the fpr and if you are not at this time install a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail.

I did have a FPR, but the rubber seal inside punctured and it was feeding gas through my vacum line in to the manifold, so that regulator was tooken out. Far as the guage goes, and yes its the narrow band, you think its just the guage and not the fuel system acting up? I mean, the guage did go flat black every time I started the car up and drove, then after like 2.5 hours I ran the car and the guage started working, but in the lean.

Is it doing this at idle?

When I drove the car home last night, at first it was a little in the stoich, and a little in the lean. Then by the time I got home, it was in the red all the way. At idle, its also in the red. Only one or two leds are glowing. I didnt boost. When I gave it some gas and it was close to pushing one PSI, it leaned out even more. Im wondering if the FMU is messing up, or maybe the plugs are fouled. Maybe one of my injectors isnt opening like it should. Or maybe my stock FPR is not doing its job. I honestly dont really know. Im taking a day off of work today and one of my buddies with a civic is gonna try to and help me figure it out. Any ideas what it could be?

my guess would be is your fuel injectors are taking a crap on you or your fuel pump is...

The gauge is screwed, if you were really running that lean at idle then your car would just die. It would not hurt it but it just would not run.

Im gonna change the plugs today to NGK's that I bought, but my mechanic changed to Delco's. Hopefully that would explain the bogging down occasionally and a little low idle. Far as the guage goes, I think I may replace that. Today I boosted up to 5-6 psi, and the guage was partly in the red and I didnt hear any knocking or anything I havent heard before.

Also, the guage usually swings from side to side when Im driving, from green to slightly in red under normal driving conditions, before yesterday. But today it just stays in the red, doesnt go from left to right like before. Just stays put. Occasionally another led will light up. Does that mean the guage is faulty, or is that really where Im running?
