Default Some advice please.........

Okay so I have decided im going to put a JR super charger on my car at the end of the summer. Once I buy the kit what else to i need to buy? I need a complete list like all the way down to extra gauges, or evan just what you reccomend on top of the required stuff. I will be buying the kit brand new so i need to know all the extras that I will need after that. Also will I lose gas mileage pretty badly? Im guessing after I install it its highly recommended to run with a 92 octane rating or would it still be safe to run 87 octane? And how much does it usually cost to have it tuned after installation? Oh and last but not least what is the reliability factor on a civic after being boosted with a supercharger?

I dont think its safe running 87 octane on a supercharge, turbo or nitrous. Just use octane 92 because you wont save that much money anyways if you do the calculation. You'll probaly gonna pay around $1 extra on your total.

So you either spend that or $5 on octane boost...I'd stay away from 87 with F/I

If you use 87 you will hear DETONATION. You MUST, I repeat MUST use at LEAST 92. Your car will not run right under boost with 87.........

as far as the gauges go, you will need a boost gauge obviously. i dont really know what else you will NEED but id stick to autometer for the gauges.

Ok, the JRSC kit is pretty comprehensive. You dont' really have to have anything else. It's designed to bolt right on to a stock car. You will want to get a new fuel pump (255) for about 100 bucks. Other than that, you are good to go. I know I really wanted a boost gauge to see what was going on though, so consider one of those. The kit comes with fuel management in the form of a 5:1 fuel management unit (FMU), meaning for every psi of boost, you get 5psi of fuel pressure. It's Ok for now.

As far as the 87 or 91+ octane, you can run 87 but you will have to pull way too much timing. Timing makes Hp. If you pull timing to run 87, you are robbing yourself and putting your engine at risk. Octane rating is a fuel's resistance to detonation (ignition), higher cylinder pressures (boost) result in higher temps. If those cylinder temps get high enough, and believe me they will, 87 octane will just ignite during the compression stroke and the resulting explosion will try to force your piston downward while it is trying to come upward... get it?

I just pulled a JRSC off my car, so if you have any questions, I'm here all week.

okay so since Im going to boost i will just bite the bullet and go with the 92 octane. I guess it will make the engine last longer to. And yeah i know how bad detonation is I have blown 4 motors on my banshee becasue were unable to purchase fuel thats hight enough octane, this summer we have something new for it though. So this is what I have for a list of stuff that i should purchase:

The JRSC KIT (obviously)
255 fuel pump
boost gauge
A/F Gauge
EGT gauge (which does what?)
Oil pressure gauge

Oh and heres a question for street sniper, why did you decide to remove yours? Was the car still reliable after the kit was on the car? and what kind of gas mileage did you observe?

Thanks everyone this kit should be on by the middle-end of the summer.
