Sooooo close to turbo.

First off, Md420, dont' encourage newbie flaming of senior members.
And second, BoostMaster, your comments are not helpful. Sarge has been asking for advice on here for weeks and probably went to another forum (Turbod16) for more advice. He isn't some snot nose punk newbie, he just doesn't know all there is to know about turbos. Instead of telling him how little he knows, why don't you enlighten him, and all of us for that matter, on how to tune his new set-up. Oh, I'm sorry... you dont' know? Then zip it. Anybody with a keyboard can type, "Get it professionally tuned." He has acknowledged the need for a pro tune so take your insults elsewhere. He has stated many times that he has to work overtime just for installation, which means he probably needs a few more shifts to get it tuned. I don't know where you get your lawnmower tune, but in the real world a decent tune is upwards of $400, if you want dyno time and any sort of datalogging.
I am sorry fo the rant, I just get frustratd when the only advice people give is "Spend more money."

Also, that last time I saw a guy pay $400-$500 on a tune has a fully built motor and was dropping 500+ whp. He spent $500 for 3 hours of tune, an installation of a 3BAR MAP sensor, and a at least 6 runs on the dyno. You guys need to find somewhere else to get tuned or learn how to do it yourself - it's well worth the money.

But droping it off and picking it up is tempting too.

the shop is literly 300 feet from where i work. I drop the car off at 11am...walk to work and im there by 11:05. At 10-11 PM i leave work and pick up the car. Granted the place wont warentee the parts, they warentee the labor. Theyre cool guys, my buddy has had some work done there and they helped him out with his problems. Turbo comes in mail tomorrow!!!!!!
This here is for pcupo12: (and I'm speaking in a calm low voice so not to start anything)
pcupo12, the reasons I keep telling you to do it yourself are:
1. as LEVIII said above, you can do it a bit at a time, no need to do it all at once
2. also as stated above, if you do it yourself (with a friend), you'll know wtf is going on under your hood if anything ever goes wrong
3. you'll be able to spend that installation cash on something else for your car (or me)
4. I've read a lot of your posts, and a lot of times you tell all the newbies and others to do it themselves because of reasons #2 and #3
P.S. the reason I called you private is that you should be knocked down to a private for wanting to take it to a shop.
This is just my 2 cents worth.

Actually putting the kit on your car is the easy part is what I would like to stress. If you can install a CAI and have had to pull a radiator off a car before then you have the ability to do it.
The only part I say to get done if your un-easy about it is wiring up fuel management and tapping the oil pan but IMHO both are still easy if you use your head and take it step by step
You + a couple buddies + a 12 pack + a saturday would get it done and you would be alot more proud of it

Or take a couple days off work to do it yourself. Everyone enjoys a vacation. But if you really don't have the time or vacation days to do that then go ahead and have the shop install it if you really want.

I just checked out some turbo installation facts on the net and it doesn't seem hard at all. The worse thing was drilling the oil pan for the connection, and that isn't very hard to do. (tip: I think I would get a fitting welded onto the oil pan to help prevent any leaks)
Good luck, pcupo12, whatever way you decide to go.

First, lemme just apologize for the rant last night, I was... how you say? Inebriated.
Now, I am gonna chime in one more time and then I'll leave you to it.
I vote for you to do the install yourself like everybody else is saying, and then pay for the tune.
BoostMaster, I wasn't questioning your expertise, I use newbie and "Senior Member" not as a measuring stick of knowledge, but rather, familiarity. I welcome your knowledge to the pool of the collective, but I dont' like when someone signs up and goes right into flaming someone for not knowing the answer to their own question.
And calling someone "ignorant", "punk kid", "hard-headed", etc... is not productive. I dont' care how much you know about anything.
