Default t3/4 on d16z6

i need some info.. a complete one if someone would please... im ready for turbo...


first off my z6 got almost 200k... running really strong, and maintenance is on schedule..do i need to rebuild it from gound up??
do i need to do anything with the internals? ( cams head piston.. whatever )

second... do i need to be careful on what kinda manifold i get or are they all about the same..

here's the list of what i know buying:
1. t3/4 turbo ( no name ) brand new from ebay ... ( if this is bad let me know )
2.hks blow off valve
3. frount mount intercooler kit w/piping for d15/16 from ebay... ( no name too, but it said "jdm team on top")
4. waste gate... i think its hks
5 boost controller.. dont know which to get yet



thats all i have on my list so far, i dont know if i need to get something else besides the manifold if there's anything else i need to know let me know... oh yeah do i need to reprogram my p28 ecu??

anything that doesn't have a name on it isn't a good idea at all IMHO

ok first thing is that on ebay almost every turbo product is labeled HKS "style"...your gonna want a name brand turbo (garrett, turbonetics...etc) the intercooler should be fine...look for a turbo xs boost cont. (double stage preferbly)

oh the only 2 things i was looking at ebay is the no name turbo and intercooler, but the hks, is coming from a local mod shop here in the tri cities like the BOV and the wastegate and (the boost controller) i think

ok then im convinced to buy the right ****.... im buying either a turbotenics or a garet.. so if i buy the name brand turbo, can i get the rest of the stuff just about anything or do i need to stick with the expesinve stuff??

Didnt you see my turbo list in the DIY section? You want my advise? Get a Mitsu T-25 turbo, or a T-28. You can get them used for a good price, and theyre good turbochargers. Get a CAST manifold. Get your intercooler from johnnyracecar.com. Get youre pipeing from tunertoys.com. You need to research turbocharging cars more. I came to this conclusion due to the fact that you were willing to spend 200 bucks on a good BOV, but were cheaping out on the turbo. Get a cheap HKS knockoff BOV to save money.......it will work fine, and you can get 4 fakes for the price of a real one. Getting a mitsu turbo is also a good idea, because it has an internal wastegate, meaning you dont need to buy an external one, saving more $. Get a turbo XS manual boost controller TURBO XS NOT XS Power or XS TURBO..........Very big difference. A t3/t4 turbo doesnt describe much about the turbo other than the flange needed.....Theyve got different sizes. Custom Turbo Kit Requirements.

thanks pete, that is exactly why i pmed you, i know you have the answers to what i need to know, what about the motor itself, almost 200 k ..... do i need to rebuilt it or atleast chage all the gasket or anything?

do a compression test and find out what shape your motor is in to tell you weather or not its gonna hold up to boost or not
