I got a d16y7 and i was wondering if its ok to put a turbo in it. Will i get into any problems in the future because of the boost?

its just that ive heard that its not a smart thing to put a turbo on a d16y7 cuz it might break the engine, is that a real fact or just some bull?

^ that combined with the link to the individual components and the External Links is a gold mine of knowledge read up, you can always learn more, i've been researching my *** off for a few months now and i'm pretty sure i'm just scratching the surface.

btw some people think the y7 is great to boost since VTEC is just another thing that can fail, its a simple engine. Get a compression/leakdown test and see how your engine is doing, and if all is good, go for it! (after reserach of course lol)

I say if you're serious about your car (plan on keeping it for a while) swap the engine out and then turbo it. I'm sure you will be much more happy. Also depends on how much power you want to be putting out. For the D16y7 you're looking at only about 200hp, while decent im sure after a while you'll be craving more.
