what would be the best turbo?

^^^ exactly if you have a small area (aka no intercooler) you can put a lot more psi in with it ending up being the same amount of air. don't use psi, use hp as a goal. it's usuall safe to go a little under half on the stock hp on stock internals

^ do you mean a little under double of stock hp? Meaning around 200hp would be safe if well-tuned and the engine is in good shape. Go for a T25, gated at a safe PSI, small enough for a quick spool on your DD, can find HF/t25 adpater plates everywhere, cheap, easy to find.

yea my bad. as in 200 hp for d16y7, 240 for d16y8, etc.

........that last one didnt make any sense. Like flip said, get a t25 or a similar turbo. A few people are sellin greddy turbos on turbod16.com for a reasonable price

well a y7's stock horsepower is 103, so a little less than double stock would be 200. a y8's stock hp is 127, so it would be around 240. or am i just crazy?

what you need to understand is that the blocks are the same. The heads, and in particular the cam, is what makes the difference. So really if youre thinking about it, its what the blocks can handle, yes the head has a key in it, but if the blocks cant handle the power, the head thtas on it doesnt mean squat. I have a y8 and only made 202whp

ah ok got it. still just learning about all this stuff. i'm gonna turbo eventually but i guess i still need to learn a bit.
