You guys make it sound like these people went out and found the first two tuners they could find and destroyed them.

HELL NO!

They caught two people performing an extremely dangerous and illegal activity, and delt a punishment worse then jail time. Call me a fascist, but I agree 100% with that punishment. Race your car, watch it be destroyed.

Making a public example of somebody elses punishment is a great deterant to others. Maybe back in the old days when they were frying people for murder, if they had shown it on the mass media of somebody being cooked alive, there'd be less murderers now

 

I do agree, and I too am completely against street racing. However, in this situation, it looks like some a-hole cop trying to make a name for himself.

Hell yeah it's a deterant, I would ****ing cry if my car was crushed. But that will never happen, because I'm not stupid, and I drive however many miles it takes to get to the strip

 

i agree with u on the street racing part. im more into the track for safty and ppls lives. im just sayin tht the sentemental pride of ur car is crushed whn u see tht happen to ur car

 

i almost cried when i seen the white ef si get crushed. but i understand why they did it.

 

I wonder if they would be as quick to destroy an M3 or a benz SL550, Porsche 911, Audi RS6 ect. The rich guys street race too. I'm just thinking about the clip with the M5 and RS6 racing through THICK traffic.

racing scares the sh*t out of me, too many risks, that's why i don't race, street or track and the fact that my car has a slush box and peaks at 105 hp has nothing to do with it.

 

I'll jump on "that" bandwagon when I see the drunks cars get mashed. Maybe the people who are talking on the cell phones who have rear-ended my wife's car twice can be next in line. We all know that this is a show-boat event aimed at young kids...to bad they don't realize we can see how it all really happens to be another big azz heap of hypocrisy. I'm so sure joe suit there never got drunk, never reved up his daddy's car or did a burn out...What BS [middle finger icon]

 

yeah, but the guy whos drinking and driving isnt necessarily a car enthusiast. that would be like them crushing your toaster for street racing. its just an appliance for most people. so they take away the drunks drinking. if you are a habitual (which is i think 2 times now) DUI driver, they put a breathalizer in your car, so if youve been drinking, the car wont start. so they cant drink if they want to use an important appliance. but if you crush their car, its just a monetary punishment, since they could just go buy another car. but anyone who knows anyone whos gotten a DUI, if the money doesnt throw you off of driving drunk the first time, its not going to change anything to cost them a little more money.

 

Wouldn't a true street racer see this as an opportunity to "upgrade" his new ride? Don't get me wrong..I totally agree with getting the races off the street, it just seems that instead of crushing the car they could weld a limiter into the car that prevents it from going over 65 and maybe de-tune it so no 14 sec 1/4 miles.That would hurt....
Crushing is just over kill...and obviously a TV propaganda opportunity. Anyone remember back a few years they where installing "growlers" into city cars. Basically it was a black box that monitored G forces and such, and would physically growl if you went out of parameters. The deterrent was that once a week it would get reviewed and the city worker would be using their own car if they were found to be abusing the city's. Lots of city cars got parked the following month..LOL
