bitter, table of one please...
since i've been lucky enough to get a cold in july and can't sleep, i figured i'd post a story for everyone, along with some pretty pictures. this last february, i got a call from my sister one morning telling me her 96 integra gsr had been stolen. stolen!! from in front of our dad's house. in a city with one of the lowest crime rates! [:@] here's the ironic thing...she'd lived in downtown kc for 7 years and her car never got touched, but as soon as she moves into a colorado suburb, all gone.
it was such a beautiful car. so fun to drive! i miss being able to pull up next to a riced out cavalier or neon and just smokin the pants right off the driver. the car was completely stock, except the taillights, which we had changed out after my sister decided one night to back her car into a suburban and broke the turn signal on the drivers side.
about a month after her car was reported stolen, police recovered it about 2 hours away from where she lives. all they told us at the time was that it had been stripped. [sm=boohoo.gif] eventually, the car was towed to the local (and huge) junkyard (www.klode.com) that has monopolized the insurance claims. it's pretty disgusting if you go on their website. the majority of the integras and 6th gen civics listed are recovered thefts and stripped completly out. my sister's was stripped of only a few things: the engine, tranny, front seats and wheels. i'll have to scan in the pics we took of it when we got to go see it. cars look funny when the engine bay sits up higher than the rear because there's no weight to hold it down. ooh, also...we've always wondered how they managed to get into the car. i don't know if any of the pics i'll post will show it, but on the driver's side, it looks like a chemical was used. it looks to have run all the way down the side of the door from the key hole. if anyone has any ideas, let me know. notice too, the emblems they tried to take, and instead just broke off the car. sheesh.
my sister and i both hope that the engine crapped out on the jerks who stole it. just as a side note, please, please pleeeease, if you drive a 6th gen civic, si and ex especially, put yer car in a garage at night. this is one of the worst experiences to ever go through...leaves you feeling really violated.

I think we all need to chip in some cash and buy some C4 to wire up to the ignition on a car and leave it for the thieves to take. Have someone stake it out with a video camera to catch the action.
ngoti8tor: that's a good idea. on a side note, a real good way to catch buttheads stealing stuff from your car, i.e. subs, stereos, etc...line the backside of the sub box with fish hooks. the thief can't get away, since his fingers are attached to the subs, so you get to keep your stuff and catch the bad guy. it's evil and inhumane, but that's what people deserve if they're gonna steal stuff.
my bad street sniper...i'd say 5, 6, and 7 gens are prime targets, and of any trim. especially if an engine swap has been done. it was just amazing when i checked out the website where my sister's car was taken to, and integra gsr's and civic si's/ex's were mostly recovered thefts.
heh...it's kinda funny. after this happened, gta san andreas didn't seem as fun anymore. [8D]

1999 Acura Integra, 2004 #1 top stolen car in the US
Acura Integra is also the most repeated car on 2004 most stolen cars then any other car

Sad day for Honda/Acura Owners

i think the 7th gens have transponder keys, dont they? i dont think they have the problems with theft that the 4-5-6 have. that sucks. we went through that with my bros car. sorry to hear about it. [&o]
yeah, you're right, sacicons. i remember reading that in the owners manual of my civic and thinking about how nice it would have been to have had that on the integra.
transponder keys are for honest ppl and to cost you more money at the the dealer to get extra keys cut. Yes they stop the low life theives but the the theives who steal for a living a transponder key doesnt mean sh*t.
I work at a chrysler dealer and we get so many theft recovery jobs in and guess what 70% of the vehicles had skim modules (the device that reads the transponder key) so dont rely on that $90 key to protect your car.
