ah, i see what you're sayin. I just get irritated when people automatically assume one car is faster because is this or that. For instance, funny story.. Me and some buddies went out to the drag strip one night, and my freind in a GTI got put against an early 70's vette. It was loud, shiney, and fairly fast. The people around me insisted "that little gold car doesn't stand a chance." BUT, Jon walked the vette big time, had probably at least 2 car lengths on him when all was said and done.

dude i just noticed your sig, nice!

but what were not taking into consideration...that looks like an R33 to me..maybe an R32? if it was an R32, it could have been a RB20DE inline-6 with 155hp, or if it was an R33, it could have been a GTS4 or GTS25...it seems that everyone always just assumes that every skyline is a GT-R, and while the GTS4 and GTS25 still have some power, they have less then my lowly stratus, even with their RB25DE.

That's what I was thinking. It may have even been completely stock too. Not taking anything away from the Civic, I'm sure it's still fast. But the Skyline was probably more close to stock. Looked like an R32, still no slouch. R32

and that is the highest end R32 that you posted jake...a car the size of the R32, with the 155hp base model engine, and rWD, which has more drivetrain loss, wouldnt be much competition for a boosted hatch.

*completely agrees with Pat* i hate it when people just assume that b/c a car IS a certain model then it's automatically fast... sohc vics can be quicker than dohc...skylines-turbo/no turbo(and the # of wheels puttin down tha powa)... same way with supras... some of the old ones are DOGs compared to today's standards anyways... stupid f'n Fast and the Furious....

that skyline had the GT-R symbol, and im going to go ahead and say it was a GT-R. but thats only a 12 second car stock. its probably not totally stock, but even a solid high 11. but then you figure a 11 second honda isnt out of reach, and not as rare as a lot of peopel think. add to that that it was from 60mph, and all that AWD is doing is costing parasitic power. theres no traction issues at those speeds. and if an 11 second skyline and an 11 second civic were setting up to race from a 60 kick, i would bet the farm on the civic. a ton of a civics time is wastesd getting off the line, and thats where a skyline, and most AWDs, shine. let me throw this in too. my buddy has a lightly modded EVO 8, and he runs mid 13s. i have a very lightly modded b18c1, and i run high 14s. now, getting on the freeway, he pounded on it at about 40-50, and i was almost able to hang on his bumper till over 90. im confident that with a couple other boot-ons, i would have been gaining. also, he was alone, and i had my wife and about another 100 pounds or so of stuff in the backseat, so if we were both alone (as it is while at the strip) who knows, he may not have even pulled the little that he did.

oh, and to say that if he has the money to buy one, he has the money to mod the hell out of it is rediculous. i could afford to go buy an r32 gtr from moto-rex right now, but i would have NO money for mods. but i could afford the car just fine.
