I live about 30 miles from LPE (lingenfelter), and from what I have heard they have no installed a twin turbo into a true factory ls7, z-06.
They have purchased a crate ls7 (about 14-15k) and put a TT onto it, and with an engine dyno got well over 800 hp out of it. The tuning code is a real bitch to do. A former tech at LPE who now owes DTE (which is 60 miles from me) has said he expects the PCM and wire harness issues to be figured out by mid summer.
The ls7 people are getting around 450 rwhp and 435 tq with headers and a intake. Once tuning is out they will all have 450-475 ft lbs of TQ..............OH MY!!!!!!!
Fred Beans has 4-5 ls7's for sale. 2-3 people have already bought them for mods to c-5's, and are waiting until the tuning info is out.
LPE does great work..........none better. But they are out of my price range. I had some mods done last year, and saved 9k using another shop vs LPE. But once again, if money is NO OBJECT, then LPE all the way. Best ever.....
It will be well over 100k
The base z06 is 70k, and if you want one before August you will pay a mkt adjustment of 20k. the TT package will run aprox 40k. You haven't touched the drive train yet, so add another 4-6k.
but yes it will rule the tracks for the next 2-3 years.
many owners are already selling the brakes. Seems they go thru a set of pads on a day at the track. pads (32 per set)cost
a shade over 425 dollars.

for a Z06 vette and a lingenfelter built engine it would cost just over 100k and it would still destroy anything in its pricerange.

you guys are throwing out alot of numbers and automotive jargon. Numbers don't sell a car. When auto makers market a car, that's what they do, they MARKET it to a certain group of consumers. You will never see a ferrari owner drop his for a corvette no matter what numbers it is pushing out, because all his friends will make fun of him. Get into the real world guys. 99% of people with that kind of money buy those cars because of the image they portray, and chevy will never have that image, and they don't want it. How is chevy going to pull an image from the consumers heads, that have been ingrained over time through media, movies etc. They can't and won't even try. They can make more money selling them to the avg joes then trying to pull that market away from high end cars. I think vette's are cool but if I had a lot of cash I still wouldn't drive one, I'd get a lambo or a ferrari because they are sick as you know what.
GM expects 30% of it's current run of z06's will be sold to people for track use. Numbers do sell.
I have set in 3 2006 z's within 100 miles of me, that have already been stripped and roll cages installed.
IMO you underestimate the number of people who actualy race cars rather then read about it.
sorry

Even if i had all the money in the world i would still buy a Z06. If my friends made fun of me, it would stop once i hit the track. But i do agree that a Ferrari guy would never buy a Chevy. Chevy is the average joe car, thats why i would buy one but a rich guy wouldn't. But just because its the average joe car doesn't mean that it is slow.
That was a completely irrelevant post. FERARRI ONWERS DON'T RACE THEM AT TRACKS!!! Chevy cannot and will not ever try and take a shot at that market segment with the vette. Now that's not saying a ferrari owner wouldn't buy a chevy to build and race them, but that's not the same thing as buying one as their sports car. No offense man, but your grip on reality is a little scary. People don't buy over priced exotics because of the numbers they produce, END OF STORY!

Once again, IMO I think you underestimate the number of people with high perfromace cars who actualy push the cars to the limits on race tracks.

I think you bring up some wonderful points. This is why IMO you will see GM split the Vette and Caddy out into it's own div. This is already being done in Europe. The performance caddys and vettes share many parts and suppliers already.
Once the caddy/vette is split into it's own div. you will see GM do every thing they can to make the experiance at a caddy/vette dealership much like that a consumer gets at a benz of lambo dealer.
