in the image of a Vette that carries over to the rest of the vehicles. why do you think they use Viper style seats in Neons, and Skyline style seats in the latest gen Sentra SE-R? to capture a little piece of the image of that super-car in a car normal people can afford.
IMO the F body is going to be postioned where the Vette was. They will use that as the flag ship car for the "chevy" dealer. The car will be ramped up to be just a nudge above the 30k fords and 35k honda's. They will use the F body to get show room traffic and then postion the consumer into another car. Much like they have done with the vette for 30 years.

The Vette and Caddy will then be taken to a true luxury/super car level. Like i said this marketing is already being done in Europe.

if they pull the Vette away from the rest of the lineup, the rest will suffer. i (obviously) am not a big fan of V8 musclecars. I can and do give a lot of respect to the new Z06. I do and always will hate Camaros. Im sure part of it is the asshats behind the wheel of most of them in my town (and im sure they say the same of the punk *** ricers in most Hondas, I know its not fair, but its not going away) but the Camaro will not garner the respect of the general public like the Vette does.

I agree with that. But then again, who is kidding who.........GM is selling pickup trucks and 25k dollar cars. I am not sure having a 75k Vette in the show room helps much with that. BUT having a 37k F body, that just maybe if Joe blow gets a promotion at Burger king he can afford the payment, sitting in the show room, does bring in your target.

Also if GM is really going to mkt the caddy to compare with the benz and the vette vs the Super cars, they CAN NOT do it at the current locations where Joe blow is getting his Metro serviced.

If I had a 95k dollar caddy, would I want to drive up to a chevy dealer and get handed the keys to a Lesabre loaner, while Joe Bob who hasn't showerd in 2 days works on my dash?

and the bare facts are that there are guys selling off Ferarris to buy these Z06s. its simply a quick *** track car, that Chevy will cover under warranty. and if you get a rock chip in your Ferarri or Lambo, you will cry, but if its your piddly $70k Vette gets a chip or two, no big deal. its the rich mans daily driver.

Sounds great on paper, but we all know when 90% of your customers only care about ONE THING (the price) the easiest way to compeate is to reduce labor cost.

If the "project" can get 28 mpg...........be a great DD, care free for a 2k mile road trip, run 5 sub 11 sec 1/4's in 10 min, have 400 ft lbs of TQ at 3000 rpm, have a skid pad # better then .9, and be a road course warrior, then you are right..........

if not..........

well, .........................
I dont know what milage it will get, probly not too good but it will have well over 400tq at 3000rpm, skid pad will not be all that good but lateral g's from acceleration will and no it will only be making trips a 1/4 mile at a time.

Start with a 400hp/420tq 350 sbc add a 671 Weiand then add a roll cage, two bucket seats with 5 point harness, a fuel cell, and stuff this all into a $350 84 Regal. I am hoping for high 9's

high 9's?

yikes.

I have right at 425 ft lbs of tq, 525 fly HP ,with a KILLER TQ band, goes staright up at 1700 rpm. A 2800 Stall, 3:73's, a shift kit, and a car that is racing trim is about 3100 lbs, and I can't touch the high tens. Now I don't have drag radials, and I am sure that would help some..... but maybe .3 at the most.

you will be flying for sure........

I aqm hoping that this is my way into the industry, when I was 16 I had a pro street "door slammer" nova that I ran 6's with in the 1/8 mile. All work done by me. Well 10 years and 3 honda's later I am back at it. I am looking in the 800+hp range. The engine is being built now by a shop(I aint 16 anymore so I dont have the time cause of work) but they said expect 400whp@around 3800 to 4300rpm and 420wtq@3200rpm. They gave me a dyno plot of a past engine they did the same things with and it was seeing around 350wtq at 2000rpm
