WDCR TireRack/SCCA ProSolo

WDCR TireRack/SCCA ProSolo
One of the biggest AutoX events was held this past weekend in my neck of the woods. It's called a ProSolo. The fastest way I can describe it is: Take one autox course, create a mirror image of it and place them side by side. Use a drag race style start with a christmas tree light. Line 2 cars up side by side and the race begins when the lights turn green. An intense, fast pace race which can be won or lost right on the start line. The local SCCA Region, Washington D.C. Region, hosted the event at their usual lot at FedEx. From what I've heard, this specific region gets the highest number of participants. I assume because of the large lot and high level of competition. I believe it since registration filled up a couple months ahead of time.
This was my first ProSolo and definitely the most intense and competitive event I've ever done. From my experience at the event, I can say it was a whole new ball game and a little overwhelming at first. I've never drag raced, even on the street, so the drag tree start was very new for me. Not only that, but when you finish your first run on one side, you switch to the other side immediately and run again. No time to check tire pressures, tire temperatures or think about mistakes or improvements. All in all, I think I did well. I had the least prepared car in my class and was the only one who hadn't done a ProSolo before. I managed to take 5th out of 6 in my class, 100th out of 230 in qualifying. I was 3.5seconds behind first in my class, but he's in a fully prepared spec car and a trophied at nationals so for me, that's actually kind of close.
Anyways, I got videos of my runs and also a ton of pictures.
Friday was practice. You could buy practice launches with the tree. Red light was anything under .500seconds off the line. People in line to register and buy practice tickets Friday.
Lincoln tent. Results were posted here and also had a weight scales in case someone protests your car's weight.
The courses were open for walking Friday evening. Shot from the course of paddock.
After Saturday's Morning Competition. All my ST competitors on the left line up in front and behind me. We are parked in what's called "impound". When we are done out 4 runs, we park with our class cars together and open our cars up for other competitors to see if we have any illegal modifications done to our cars for protest.
Sunday's day of competition.
Got my car weighted, a lot lighter than I thought it'd be.
Figuring out how they got the smart car up there lol
Got smart on the second day and brought out the tent..
Karcepts civic. Ghetto made silencer to make noise restrictions on second day
Class winners
My buddy Brian took 1st in his class, 1st in qualifying, 2nd in Honda Challenge, 2nd in Super Challenge. He had one hell of a weekend whipping around the Karcepts beast around!
