I purchased a new 06 Honda in Jan 06 that had Dunlop tires. Drove 70,000 km's and the dealer and goodyear tire outlet said I did good to get that many. Now I am looking for a replacement set, and from what I can see you get what you pay for as far as tires go. The goodyear outlet said with the amount of mileage I drive which is about 23,000 km's per year I should consider Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred 135,000 km's rated. Total would be $800.00. Does anyone drive these tires on their civic. Would like to know if this is overkill for my civic or good advice. Most of my driving is highway.

You don't always get what you pay for. Goodyear is a good example of this. I've never had a set of Goodyear tires that I thought was worth the price by the time I replaced them. Most of them didn't last long enough to wear the tread completely. The ones that did wore unevenly, even on newer vehicles with re-checked alignments and monitored pressures.

Shop smartly for tires. Read reviews. I got HP 195/60R14 Yokohama Avid H4S tires from www.tirerack.com for my '00 VP sedan. Their dry handling is a bit better than stock rubber, and their wet handling is shockingly better. They cost me between $50-$60US/each, and I've gotten over 40K miles out of them. They still have ok tread left for dry pavement, but I could use some new rubber for the rest of the snow this winter and the rain in the spring. I may buy the Avid H4S tires again, but I've also been wanting to try the Bridgestone Potenza UHP all-season Pole Position tires.
