2004 ex factory size brake upgrades
Hello my 04' ex will be in need of brakes within a 4-6 months. My question is,,,
Is there any braking performance to be gained with a set of ebc red pads and stock diameter slotted/washed ebc rotors?
I am not wanting to move up to 17" wheels or spend an arm or a leg on a big brake kit.
Is this more of just a "bling" effect over any braking performance gains? If so i will just replace with all oem equipment and save my money.
Any "real world" experiences are welcome
Regards,
Matt

Ceramic pads will probably give you the best upgrade on stock-sized brakes. Slotted rotors are ok, but drilled rotors are unnecessary and may even decrease brake performance. You basically want to keep enough rotor mass so the rotors act as heatsinks, while allowing the pads to clear outgasses. Modern ceramic pads outgas much less than the pads of yesteryear though, so even slots are more aesthetic these days.
Make sure you have good tires with good tread on them too.
Another upgrade for braking performance is also to switch from rear drums to discs, if you don't have them already.
