Are 215's too wide on my 2000 Civic?

Default Are 215's too wide on my 2000 Civic?

I'm looking at a set of 16" rims, equipped with 215-width tires.

My car isn't lowered. Are these too wide? Am I gonna scuff?

Too wide, you'll rub the inner fenders on turns.

What's the aspect ratio? (2nd number of tire size)

I run 205-40-17s and if they were any wider they'd rub on every turn

Stock height might have a slim chance of not rubbing, but Id say either get new tires for them or look elsewhere.

I also run 205/40R17s, and I actually do rub if I hit bumps. 205 MAX unless you roll your fenders.

Aspect ratio is 40. Ok, thanks guys. Looks like these are no good for me. I appreciate the feedback.

It has (rubbing) very little to do with the aspect ratio of the tire, but more
to do with the offset of the wheel............

This is true, but there is a point at which the offset doesn't matter because it's simply too wide.

For example, My 205/40/17's on my old 1993 Civic (with 17" x 7" +40mm offset rims) rubbed the inner wheel wells AND the outer fender lip on tight turns (before rolling the fenders), making the offset of the wheel beside the point since if the offset were greater or smaller, it would still have rubbed on at least one side of the tire. I can't imagine a 215mm tread width, you would have severe rubbing problems.

How are you rubbing with those when I didn't, especially considering how slammed my ej1 was? Then again, maybe it has to do with the 3* of negative camber I was running lol.
