Default 92 Civic rack and pinion replacing

Can I replace the rack and pinion without removing the engine?

I tried to disconnect the coupler between the steering column and the unit but could not get to the coupler's bolts. There is a coupler cover that I could not remove to gain access to the bolts.
Please help....

If i do not have to do it , I won't. My problem is the RH wheel has horizontal play, but the LH do not. Can I replace the RH side of the rack and pinion alone? Let me know ,please.

I think you might be able to, because i was looking at the steering section of my service manual and it showed the rack taken apart, and it looks like it can be taken apart and one side replaced, but the rack is like $200 so it might not even be worth the trouble to fix the rack. Also, the part you need might not be sold seperatly.

My thoughts exactly, i would just replace the whole rack. That way you don't have to worry bout talking a rack apart and putting it back together, and you have a new part you can be sure won't break at a later time.
