Default 97 2 door wheel sizes - HELP

I am thinking about getting some aftermarket rims for my 2 door civic, but I can't really decide what to get.

I have picked out about 3 different styles, the one I like the most being of a standard slimming 5 spoke look in the hyperwhite coating look.

I guess my largest issue is what size to buy. I currently have the 14" steelie with factory sized tires and all that, I want to advance to a 16" rim, because this size will work with any minor lowering I might choose to do later. The dilema for me is the 7inch width of the tire I will have to install. I don't want to cut corners or hit the parking lots and start having alot of rubbing issues.

I installed an 18x8 rim at one time just to see what it looked like, and it looked like crap, but it rubbed if i cut the wheel, and looked as if i would bottom out almost any speed bump or related bump.

Anyone have some input as to a good solid size, or has someone tried the 16x7 or 17x7 and had decent look with low profiles? Any help would be appreciated.

i've got 17's with a 2.5 inch drop, only rubbing issue on the top little plastic holders in the fender lining (but only when i take a turn very hard)
so i just took the top ones on each side out

[hr]
but anyway i say get a set of 15's with some really nice rubber or some 16's will do the trick, i wish i had some 16's now

[hr]

mine are 17x7, no rubbing issues, the 15's and 16's aren't as wide so no problems

[hr]

and make sure to check the offset of the wheel before purchasing

Awesome, I don't care to pull out a little un-needed plastic if I have to, but I would rather just slap them on, some caliper paint while i am in there, and drive.

The set I am looking at is 16x7, I want a 16x 6.5 badly, but they are super hard to find, in any decent styles that is.

The only good thing that the 16 would do vs the 17 is give me a little extra room from bottoming out, not so sure that the 7" tire width is going to make it around the corners or not, but I will ask all those questions when I buy them I guess.. Might just have to go for that road hazard warranty just in case i screw the tires up prematueurly.

Thanks for the info!

17x7 with a +40offset will work fine, but say a +45 .....even better.
