I have a 1996 Civic EX coupe, and I want to beef up its appearance with some bigger wheels.

I would like to keep speedometer and odometer readings accurate, so I'd like to get thinner tires to keep the overall radius the same.

Thing is, I can't find what I need, maybe just because I don't know what I am looking for.

If anyone has any tips or links to what I need, that would be great.

My car has 14's stock, I'd like to put on 15;s or 16's.

 

well for 15" i would go with 205/50/15 that should sute you well.. im not sure about the speedometer changing, if it does it will be so little

I know with the 15's i just put on today the max i could go was 195/50/15... If anything your speedometer will be more accurate because honda puts smaller tires on so your speedometer shows you are going 2-4mph faster than you really are, so you think you are going 45 in a 40 when really you are going 43mph

EDIT: Personally I would go with 16's just because then you don't run the risk of rubbing.

Here's the best tire calculator I've used. It lets you enter up to 5 sizes at once.

 

Just look for the OVERALL diameter of the tire if you want to keep your speedo/odo correct. Tirerack shows the overall diameter oftires when you compare their specs. I used that to choose a different size than what they recommended when I was replacing the 185/60s the PO put on the stock 14x5.5 steelies(185/65 was stock/recommended). I wanted a 195mm width for better dry traction and to "fill out" the .5"-wider 14x6 rims I got (25.4mm = 1"). With the 185/60s, my speedo/odo readhigher than I was going too, so I went with a 195/60 tire instead of the 195/55. I run a '00 VP sedan and chose Yoko Avid H4Ss BTW. 15s or 16s would likely be a better choice aesthetically, but I was minimizing present and future tirecosts. 185/65-14 or 175/70-14 skinniesmight have been better for the recent snow though. You'll want lower profiles than that with 15s or 16s. My speedo/odo still reads a bit high, but it's closer to actual than before...and the difference in wet traction is insane. They don't do too bad in1-6" snowfor what they are...a wider-than-stock performance tire(I usually drivea Jeep w/Trxus MTswhen it's nasty out anyway). Deeper than that bottoms out the car too much for any decent traction.
