Brakes locked up...HELP
Hi. I have an '89 Civic DX. I let it sit in my driveway for about 6 weeks now. I tried pulling it out and the rear passenger side wheel won't move, it just drags. Is the brake locked on just that one wheel? Or is something rusted??? Any advice would be most appreciated. Namely, how to get it rolling again. ;] Thanks.
jack it up and see if the brake is locked. Check to see that u have brake fluid in the resivoir under the hood. Other than that id just take the wheel off and see whats stopping the thing from rolling. Maybe try some WD40 on the non moving part and see what it does.
The brake pads and drums will rust very easily if you let them set and there's moisture that gets to them (From humidity or rain). It could be that the brake drum in question has a bit of rust on it and it's just enough to make it tight against the brake shoe so that the wheel won't turn.
If it's not that, the emergency brake could be stuck, or seized.
