Default Coilover vs Spring & Shocks.

Alright, since i don't know much stuff about mechanic in general, i was wondering if i had the good definition about stuff. Also, i'd need recommendation about some stuff.

First part, from my understanding, a Coilover is a Spring and a Shock assembled. A shock and a strut (or maybe strusts) is the same godamn thing. Hopefully i'm right on this.

Second, let's say you want to change the spring and the shock on your car, would it be a better idea to get a Coilover instead of a spring and a shock (i'm guessing that some people might want to pair different brands) ? Do you need additonal parts to put the spring and the shock together ? Note that a garage will install all these things for me, is it gonna take much more time and parts to assemble a spring and a shock together ? Then, what shock would you recommend, or should i know what spring i'll get before looking for the shocks ?

a coilover is an adjustable spring, there is no strut that is associated with it. a spring you put on the strut and it has one height. a strut is different from a spring or coilover. if you get either a spring or a coilover i would get a strut because your oem struts are going to wear out fast. some good brand of struts are kyb, tein, ksport, koni. some good springs are tein, neuspeed, ksport.
