Default Dealer telling me 205/55r16???

Just ordered new rims and tires for my 04 Civic EX Coupe. I just figured the dealer knew what they are doing, but after reading a bunch of threads it seems 55 series tires are going to look too big. I live in AK and these are just going to be summer rims/tires and I dont plan on lowering it. Should I call back and try for a smaller size, and does anyone have pics of 55 series on there 16's? Thanks

Dave

I went with Motegi FF7 16's. Not the rim I wanted, but it is a pain in the *** to get rims up here in AK and I had 2 other types picked out and the local stores couldn't order them and online wanted $250 to ship them so I ended up with these. The tires I got are Bridgestone potenza re960as and only come in 55 series so I will have to look for other tires then.

I have called 5 tire stores in town and no one has 50 series in stock and all are telling me 55 series is what I should put on my civic. I found one place with a 50 but it was a crap tire--guess Im getting the 55's

Dont get the 55s, thats going to look ridiculous. haha. Buy some tires online. They are cheaper online. www.tirerack.com is a good site.

55's are going to look huge. maybe its just me, i like the low pro tires for 16". If you don't mind then i guess you can go with 55. a local shop i called for some 195/60/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE960 wanted to charge $600 for 4 tires installed mounted and balanced. I can get them online for about $370 and mounted an balance them for about $100

personally, I don't mind the slightly taller tires as it fills more wheel well gap...
technically, it will modify your final drive ratio and essentially give you taller gearing (slightly slower acceleration and slightly higher highway mpg..... very slightly)...
and your speedo will be a bit off...
