Default Do I really need a camber kit?

I want to lower my 95 civic on 17's by 2". but do i need a camber?
i've read about them but i keep getting mixed opinions. I dont feel like spending money on something i dont need but i dont want my car getting messed up either.

Dropping 2 inches on 17s will be tough anyway depending on your offset. You may have to have neg. camber just to keep from rubbing. What is the offset of your wheels?

If you know what wheels you have you should be able to look up the offset online. If not, Id just go with a 1.5 drop just to be safe, you dont want fenders rubbing.

You don't need a camber kit at all; assuming the toe is set to zero, the camber won't cause any real wear. Dropping it 3" in front and 3.5" in back will give you about -3.0* of camber all around, and that's not enough to give you any real wear (and that's from experience). Of course, the tires will wear out faster than they would at zero camber, but that's over the entire lifespan of the tire.

There's three big reasons people get camber kits:
1) they read about how "bad" camber is (granted, excessive camber is bad for tires. But 2-3* of it won't kill anything) and think they need one. Parts marketing is partially to blame for this
2) they don't like the look of their wheels leaning in

and my favorite

3) they need to dial in more negative camber to go even lower

Also, the offset thing is more important if you get a camber kit to get your camber back in specs. With negative camber, a slightly lower offset should still tuck (we're talking +40, maybe +38 offsets here).

I only know 1 person tucking 17s with no rubbing (other than Reapers old civic) and he is running +42 offset...which I think is what Reaper had as well. No camber kit. I know you dont NEED a kit, but some people are into it and others arent. I personally have never had one and have had 2 cars dropped more than 2 inches. And for tire wear, the tires on my EG were rated for 55-60k miles, I made it something like 48K on them. Not bad.
