Default Help! Need advice on rims

I've got a 98 civic that I'm looking for rims for, currently just have the stock steel. My problem is the bolt pattern specs for my car say I need a 100mm offset on my rims, the rims I'm looking at only have a 40mm offset, a guy I know said that wont work but I've been looking at rims that say they work for any 4 lug Honda and they are only 42mm offset so why wouldn't the 40mms that I want work? Can I go ahead and try them? I don't want to spend the money to find out they won't fit

You need a 4x100mm bolt pattern. A 38-45mm offset will work just fine.

Okay cool, the rims I'm looking at are 17" Evoke GTs, I'm still kinda scared to get them because even though all the specs I can see match up it says they're not compatible

Don't get 17s for your Civic. They're too big, they make your speedometer/odometer readings slightly off, and the ride is rough. The only tires you can get to fit your car are rubber bands.

and I have 17's. They are pretty rough, especially if you have aftermarket springs too. I plan on trading them with someone to get a set of lightweight 15's when I have the time.

I think 16s look best but try not to buy any wheel that weighs more than, say 17 lbs. My Black Racing Pros weigh in at about 16.5 lbs and the Konig Britelite 16s on my MX6 GT weigh 15 lbs.
The heavier the wheel, the slower the acceleration, the harsher the ride, and the longer the braking distance.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to try to find some 15s, I really like the way the new Enkei Fujins look but they're just a little pricier than I'd like to pay
