Hey guys, I have a 97 honda civic with 17" rims and tires. I was wondering if i get 3" lowering springs on the back, and 3.25" on the front would they rub on my tires? If anyone know if they would rub on my tires could you please let me know? thanks

 

Im pretty sure they would man. I had 17" wheels with 205/40 on my car with about a 1.8 drop all around. Mine would never rub, but it would hit my fender if I go over a big bump or somthing and my wheels are turned. A 3 inch drop is pretty big..

 

You think 2.50 front and 2.25 back would be to much?

 

Just get a set of coil overs instead of lowering springs and you will be better off and happier in the long run. Slam your car in the spring/summer and lift it back to stock for winter unless your like me and have a summer civic and winter civic.

 

Offset has a lot to do with whether or not the wheels will rub. I believe you need at least a +40mm offset (I think) for the tires to tuck properly (that is, of course, assuming you have the correctly sized 205/40 tires). Trust me, you'll be tucking tires with a 3"/3.5" drop (and even a little in front with a 2.5" drop). I'd say get coilovers, especially given that most lowering springs won't lower much over 2" (the keyword being "most".). Ground Controls are extremely popular, and for good reason. I have them and absolutely love them. Just remember that you have to get the alignment checked and corrected every time you play with the ride height.

 

I got 215/50/17's with a 1.75" drop with H&R springs. THey only rub if I hit a huge bump or somthing so im putting coil stabilizer mounts in this weekend.
