Default Hi im new to Hcf out from Southern CA. need some advice

I recently bought a 1997 Honda Civic Ex and wanted to fix this car up. I want to keep it toned so it has a long lasting life. It has 208k but feels like it has a long life still. So are there any suggestions where i should first start off at? What i should change to tune it up? Or do to make it run better? (faster)

well a highly common suspension setup is koni yellow shocks and ground control coilovers. But function and form is nice as is D2 and buddy club. I'm not too fond of skunk2 or tein because i hearboth of their shocks are garbage and blow more often than they should. Anyway short of swapping your motor or boosting it, theres nothing you can do to make it faster. Bolt ons on a stock d series are useless. So you can swap a b or k or h series into the civic, or slap a turbo or supercharger on. Both options can be pricey

I'm going to have to agree with everything GReddy said so far.

As far as headlights, OEM or Type-R style headlights will be your best bet as most projectors look out of place on civics, and most of the aftermarket projectors out there are crap. As far as bumpers, I'd personally recommend either a BackYard Special front bumper or keep the stock bumpers and put a front & rear lip on the car.

Also, if you're feeling up to it, you could always convert to a 99/00 front end. It's not hard, as the body panels literally bolt in place, but it can get pricey since you need a new hood, fenders, headlights, grille, and bumper (personally, I'd look at that as an excuse to get a carbon fiber hood and a type-r grille). Personally, I like the way the 99/00 front end looks more than the 96-98, especially when oem fog lights are involved. Also, there's lips that look a little out of place on the 96-98 bumper that look good on the 99/00 (Mugen and Spoon to name two).
