Honda Dealer Lowering Special ???
Hi everyone, im new to this board.. and i come to this board seeking advice, but do plan on being a regular here once i make my car worthy of showing off ! just bought it and got alot of work ahead of me.. i hope not to make a bad impression.. my knowledge of car products whether it be aftermarket or factory stock isnt that extensive..so bear with me.
So here is the situation at hand. I recently purchased some 17" rims from a buddy who was looking to get rid of his. They look great on my car, the black rims and black paint on my car compliment eachother. The problem is that it doesnt look as nice as it can, and the solution.... obviously to lower my car !
I drove by Diamond Bar Honda the other day ( this honda dealership has a motorsports division/department, they seem to sell lots of aftermarket products and tune cars) and noticed a display for $199 Lowering special. $199 to lower the car didnt seem like a bad offer, so today i called them and from what i was able to gather from them was that for $199 you get Gold line lowering springs and they do the labor.. that part seems really good.
However i hear that lowering your car with lowering springs that arent brand name will most likely produce bad results and poor driving quality.. and that is the last thing i need, i dont want to spend 200 bucks to make my car drive like crap and make driving just dreadful.
So my question to anyone reading this is.. what would you suggest me doing ? i dont have much money to spend, and 199 is looking good, but i dont want to make my car unfun to drive ( everyday driver here )
If anyone here happens to be a big car geek ( like i aim to be someday ) and wants to get a better idea of what the dealership has to offer here is their number 888-803-3691
if you could also share the insight that would be great.
i hope to have my car lowered within two weeks.. so all help is appreciated.
ps.. how low should i lower my car ? i dont want it to low, but i dont want it to stock as well.
thank you

RE: Honda Dealer Lowering Special ???
How low did they say the springs would go? My friend lowered his neon 1.75" all the way around and it drove like a pile, but then again it is a neon. If you drive it properly it will be fine but you'll need to watch out and dodge big bumps, dips, railroad tracks, etc. as that will cause damage.

You know what i dont exactly recall how low.. but i told the guy 2 inches is the lowest id want to drop it, and he said the gold line springs are capable of that.
i do drive carefully and cautiously.. but its impossible not to eventually have to go over a speed bump or a railroad..and of course..i take them slowly..
when you say damange the ride..do you mean if i take these bumps and dips really fast ? or do you mean in general.
ps.. to be more specific.. my civic is an 05'. i dont beleive ive mentioned that .

Eibach makes them? I never heard of them but Eibach has always been a good, quality brand so im guessing that would hold true if they make the Goldlines.
What i mean about damage is he damn near took off his bumper when he hit a bump he didnt see. It alsoslowly caused damage to other suspension components and he had to have it all replaced. I know the springs he bought were cheap and im guessing thats why it caused the damage to the other suspension stuff so go with a quality brand and from what i see the Goldlines look pretty good.

I wish I could help you, but I haven't heard much about factory springs. No matter what brand you get, you are going to lose a little bit of in city comfort. That is the trade off for less travel and more performance. As long as you don't bottom it, you shouldn't worry about damage to your car. As for the quality, I really couldn't tell you.

RE: Honda Dealer Lowering Special ???
i called back and spoke to them.. they offer Eibach springs for 100 dollars more
i think for once im not gonna play it cheap.. ive heard nothing but very positive things about the Eibach parts..
everyone vote i pay 100 more and go for the better company brand ?
they are both lifetime warranty and both being installed at a Honda Dealership.. this sounds so much better than letting a friend do it in his drive way..wheww
