Default Kpa vs Psi

I went to inflate my tires today and started wondering about what it says on the side wall of the tire about max pressure. Kpa is something I have never delt with before. I just got a digital tire gague and it can measure in Kpi. Does it make a difference if you measure your tire inflation in Kpa or psi? What exactly is kpi?

Pascal (Pa) is a unit used to measure pressure. Using base units, 1 Pa = 1 N/m².
1 000 Pa = 1 kPa ≈ 0.145 psi

It's the metric counterpart to PSI. It's used in non-empirical countries and in scientific fields.
