hey sometimes when i push in my brakes there is alot of play and they go down alot before engaging a bit sometimes they dont feel like theyre going to engage at all , i drive a 90 civic hatchback . anyone with info on thsi please help

 

Sounds like you need some brake servicing.
If your pads are good, you may have loe brake fluid, or even air in the brake lines. The best thing to do is flush out all of your old brake fluid and put in new stuff, then "bleed" the brakes to get all the air out of the lines.

 

well said negotiator.......but first check the small stuff........make sure uve got enough brake fluid......and then id have someone pump the brakes for me so i could walk and check all 4 brakes and make sure there is no leaks.
