lowered car a few inches, now going slow
I wrecked my last car a year ago and I just bought an 88 civic hatch 4 spd. I know its only a 4 spd but it was really fast in acceleration. But after I dropped it, it slowed down. Like I have the pedal almost to the floor and Im only going 80...? Like it lost sensitivity in the gas pedal. I have adjustble cambers and got the wheels aligned and its still pretty slow. My car hasnt made any funny noises, doesnt burn oil, oil level is fine, no check engine light, etc. none of that. Its pretty good for only 138k miles. What can I do to regain that horsepower? Do I need to tighten a belt or something? Or just take it to have it tuned? If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Well, I did get new rims, lightweight konig 16" rims. But this was after I had already lowered it. The engine seems fine and everything. Im thinking maybe the cam gear needs to be adjusted or the belt? I don't know.

Have you checked your brakes to make sure that they are not rubbing or something like that? I vote major tune up. Plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor, air filter, run SeaFoam throught it and chenge all your fluids.
Keep us posted with how she runs after the tune up.

a simple tune up won't cure a major sudden loss of power or acceleration, you haven't given that much detail, so it's kinda hard to diagnose the problem, there's no point in just going out and buying tune-up hardware when your car probably isn't in need of it.
