lug nut wrench
You can also use a breaker bar and the correct socket, along with a socket wrench for use after the nut is loosened. Check your key adapter for the size square drive you will need. I typically use a 1/2-inch drive.
Regarding impact wrenches: There are a few types - air, electric, and battery-powered versions. Yes, you would have to buy impact sockets and extensions (usually black in color). Of course, to use an air impact driver, you'd need a compressor that is capable of cranking out at least 4.5 CFM at 90 psi. I have a Sears Professional that puts out 5.1 CFM at 90 psi and my impact wrench requires at least 4.5 CFM. Some wrenches require 6 CFM, so always make sure the wrench you buy requires less flow than your compressor can dish out.
So, as far as automatic drivers go, the least expensive is a corded electric.

cant beat the Matco 3/8" electric impact gun. i'd be lost without mine, i use it for just about everything. 100ft/lbs is enough to get a torqued lug nut off with no problem. its a smooth, comfortable and quite gun.

i never torque my wheels down. i crank those suckers down good myself.
only time my wheels get a torque wrench is at the discount tire when i have them do something.LOL i dont care about snaping a stud. they are simple enough to replace for me. tho ive never snaped one on a civic yet. ive only had the stupid tire shop put the wrong freaken lug nut on my car that jacked the threads up and when i pulled my wheels to do brakes and put them back on a messed another stud threads up. tho i took the reciete to the tire shop and the incorect threaded lugnut and he reimbersed me for all 4 that i replaced OEM prices
if im away from my house and dont have my dads snapon impact gun ill just free hand it with a 4way tire iron. i dont use the factory tire irons anymore for any vehicle. every one ive used doesnt have enough leverage/ slips off to the side/ and just bends! they are good for emergency but thats about it!
