Hi everybody,

My 98 civic ex coupe has very rusty and bent out of shape mud guards (The ones that protect the brake disc). I got the new ones but I realized that it is very hard to replace those. I have to take out the hub with suspension arms and disassemble it. Does anyone know an easier way? It surprised me that so much work is required to replace such simple element.

No, as far as I know there is no other way. And this is exactly why I never bother to change them

 

As long as they're not touching the rotors you're fine. Just don't let them rub... when I first got my brake kit the gaurd rubbed for about 10 miles and made a small gouge in the rotor.

 

That is the reason why I want to change them. They are very rusted and already messed up the disks. I changed the disks and pads yesterday and bent the mud guards away from the disks. But now, the is a bigger chance of getting debris between the disk and mudguard which will result in damage to disk and pads. So I think there is no way around.
