Default Not lowered but need new struts?

I'm looking for replacement shocks & struts for my 93 LX 4 door. I will never lower my Civic and I will be running the factory springs and stock ride height. I would prefer a quality shock since I'm planning on driving this car till 500,000 & beyond. I'm amazed that the factory ones held out this long - 239,000 miles.

Why not to buy OEM then?

Yeah I was going to go to NAPA tomorrow and ask what they had however I figured I'd ask here first. I would actually prefer a more progressive dampening over OEM. I drive fairly aggressive in the corners and I would prefer a better shock than factory spec. Not to mention nasty potholes during the winter sometime impossible to avoid etc.
