Default Quality Wheel

Hey everyone just had a question about rims.

Is it better to buy a rim if it's a 2-piece rim or no. I found some pretty nice lookin rims at this tire shop by my house (for all of you in San Diego Joel's Tires). These rims felt pretty light in my hands when I picked one up..I'd estimate 12 lbs?? Definatly MUCH lighter than the SIs I recently put on my ride.

When you measuer the weight of a rim/tire do you measure with the tire on there? Does it make a big difference?

The rim said DC in the center cap..never heard of it but they seemed ultra light..especially for 17's.

Also the guy told me he'd put on some Falken's and give me some wheel locks.

Rims tires wheel locks and tax..$450..

What do you all think?

No. They tend to not be as strong. Find out what brand and model they are and google them. Then get the specs and compare them to other wheels.

Thanks. On an EM2, would 17's be rubbin with 215s on stock suspension? And what if I lowered them?

No that is no correct. I Sell wheels and yes a 2 piece wheel is BETTER!!! They are built with better material they have less weight, unless you plan on taking this thing off road there is no need to worry about how strong they are they will hold up. I sold a set of 2 piece wheels to a guy with a Jag and it only took a half a weight on each wheel to balance them. that is impossible with any other wheel. So yes a 2 piece is better.

I wouldn't generalize about something like that. I was actually suggesting to judge each wheel on an individual basis.

How about people who live where the highways have nasty potholes? I beat my Jeep less offroad sometimes than I do on. The potholes in some places can tear the wheels off of a car, while I rarely exceed 15MPH offroad.

Just because you haven't personally seen it, doesn't mean that it's impossible. I've seen 4x4 tires that took 0 weight to balance.

So yes a 2 piece is better.
Never mind about materials, forming process, or how the 2 pieces are joined, huh?
