hmm well my passenger side rack and pinion has gone bad and I took it to two different shops and one was going to charge me 400 and the otehr was going to charge me 600 .. I don't wanna spend that much money on it so is it hard to replace ? and how much would the part itself cost me ? A shop told me it would cost me around 250 but then I found a website that would sell it for 100 bucks ..

 

Passenger side rack and pinion? As opposed to the driver's side? You only have one rack and one pinion gear that controls both wheels. I'd say it's not something you want to be messing with unless you know what you're doing. Loss of steering is bad.

 

if the rack is bad go replace it ASAP. And yes, you only have one rack.

 

oh I see. Well I know some people who used to be mechanics and are really good with cars who can probably do it. I'm just trying to get a time frame for doing it.
