what ever you do be careful about swaping drums to disc breaks. There is a valve in the hydro system that could make a rear disc lock up. So if you get discs for your rear make sure you change the right valve! its either the main meatering valve or the proportioning vavle.

most setups, swapping the rear drums to brakes will cause some problems... the rear will lock up quicker than the front discs and thats bad. Id recommend a big brake kit for the front to equalize the added stoppage in the rear.

AEM makes rear disc brake conversion for civic but it cost $900.

yeah, i know its kinda old, but i just saw this. no, they wont lock up. the 5th gens have smaller front brakes, and rear discs on some EXs and SIs, and they dont have problems. upgrading the fronts is a great idea, but not absolutely necessary. the proportioning valve also isnt necessary, but it actually sends MORE power to the rear, since they can handle more braking responsibility with disks than drums. ive had the rears on for a long time, with the stock prop valve, with no problems.
