Default Rear drum to disc conversion

Ok, I have a question about the above conversion.

All the information that I have read says that when you convert an HX (rear drums) to discs that you need to change the master cylinder and proportioning valve. I was looking at the parts catalog for the HX and the SI (since SI is the preferred) choice and I found that the part numbers for the proportioning valve are the same. The master cylinder has a different part number. Do I need a proportioning valve or not. I have already verified all of the other parts it is just these two that I am having issues.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You do not need either, does it help to have the master cylinder and 40/40 proportioning valve? Yes. I only have the 40/40 valve and not the cylinder but my brake pedal will go to the floor when I press hard enough.

I did that swap with the trailing arms and 4040 prop valve off a 2000 Si. I would like to do the MC swap to make the brakes more solid but they work fine with the stock MC. You can get away with prop valve only for DD purposes.

If your proportioning valve is the same part number as the Si one, then you already have a 40/40 prop valve.

I'm looking to convert my rear drums to discs as well. What is the expected total cost for the parts? And what kind of increase in braking performance will I expect? Are you doing 99-00 Si rear discs or integra ones? Any difference? Not thread-stealing here just had a few questions to add, as I was literally going to post the same thing as you before I read this

It's pretty simple, really.

You need:

•Complete Rear Trailing arms (including rotors, calipers, etc.) from a 99-00 Civic Si or 94-01 Integra with rear discs (i'm not completely sure about which trailing arms you can use)
•Disc brake parking brake cables for 99-00 Civic Si (others may work, not sure)

optional:
•40/40 Proportioning Valve (highly recommended)
•15/16" master cylinder or bigger

Prices vary, depends how good of a deal you found. Whole thing should cost a few hundred bucks for all the parts.
