Default Rear wheel removal???

i'm putting rims on my '00 civic dx and was doin just fine until i got to the rear. i already have the car on jacks with the hubcaps & the lug nuts removed. there is a gold circular plate in the middle of the stock steel wheel and i can't get the rear wheels off. do i have to remove this gold piece? if so, how? thanks

wow, I'm an idiot. Disregard my parking brake comment. For some reason I was thinking you couldn't get the brake drum off

no need to remove that gold piece. just take a hammer or mallet and hit the wheel in different spots until it knocks off...
