Default Soft sidewall tires

i just received my new tires, they are General Altimax HP. when i first inspected them they had really soft side wall. are they suppose to be like this? if they are, are they easier to be damage than the harder side wall tires? also, what are the advantages and disadvantages of having soft sidewall tires?

I will write a review on these tires once i have them mounted and have a decent amount of time on the road.

yeah their supposed to be soft, its a normal street tire so they dont reinforce the sidewalls. they'll be fine. an advantage to the soft sidewall will be a smoother ride than one with reinforced sidewalls. disadvantage would be that it wont perform as well as ones with reinforced sidewalls. for street driving, their fine.
