I just bought this 98 honda civic Ex coupe. It has coil overs and its is about 3 inches dropped. It is very stiff. It has stock struts. Is there anyway to soften the ride or do I need to raise it ?

 

3 inches on stock struts? not sure i believe that

 

ur probably riding on the bump stops...get new shocks and raise ur car.

 

I asked the guy I bought it from. Since I didn't lower it I can't swear how many inches or if they are even the stock struts. I know they are coil overs and that he said he got the struts from Pep Boys..lol I never have had a honda before. I have a 69 chevy pickup restored and my 74 260 Z i have rebuilt. This is new to me. I can use any ideas from the experience in here.

I thought this may be the case but I can't find any under there. I'm thinking they have been removed. I do know he said if it's raised some it wasn't so bouncy. I just thought people on this forum would have better knowledge on Hondas to pick their brains. I like the cornering, but not so much the bumps. Its very stiff when i push down on the rearend. Almost stiffer than my 260z that is not even lowered yet. By the way, it sits about like the picture in your post but has 65 series tires

 

do u know what kind of coilovers are on there? possibly the best way to make for a better ride would be to buy some decent aftermarket shocks. also, measure the springs that u currently have one there. match the demensions on www.ground-control.com and order custom size springs with custom rates. new springs from there would be ~$200. or buy a new setup, either spring or coilover.
