I drive a jeep, but I am asking for a friend who needs new shocks for his 1992 Civic LX. Can someone explain what struts do. We have found just shocks for sale, and shocks and struts. The ones with struts are very expensive. He was wondering if he would need new struts, or can get by with just shocks. He isn't lowering it or anything.

 

From what I understand shocks apply to the front suspension and struts are the rear.
