Default Sway Bar Info Anyone?

I really want to make my car handle better without lowering it. I think im going to go with LCA and Sway Bars. But i have quite a few questons about these. And take it easy, i know next to nothing about suspension....[&:]

- Do you have stock sway bars? Is it like exhaust, you just upgrade to a bigger size to make it better? Or is it like strut braces, you add them on?

- From what i've heard you need a new LCA to mount the rear sway bar on. Do you need anything in the front to put the front sway bar on?

- Would just getting the rear sway bar do anything? Would it mess up my suspension because of not having on in the front?

- Could someone explain if the sway bars use bushings at all? If they do im going to get polyurethane bushing, but i dont understand the whole thing yet.

Thanks everyone!

1. YOU do not, some other cars do

2. you don't need new LCAs, depending on which swaybar you get. mine bolts to the stock LCAs

3. I ONLY have a rear one and it handles great

4. yes, and they should be included with the kit

read the 6th Gen Product Review forum for pictures of my setup

sway bars are simple. all they really do is make the body more rigid. its like putting braces across your c-pillar or in your trunk. it just adds rigidity (except sway bars add it to the suspension, not the body).

it does more than that, it actually makes the left and right sides of the suspension less independent, and reduces body roll. read this: http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handlin...antiroll.shtml

Thanks alot MXS!

A few more Q's:

- Will the LCA make a difference itself? I'm going to get new LCA before i get the sway bars. Will i be able to tell a difference before i get the sway bars installed?

- How are the sway bars compared to an H-Brace?

DrByers i know it looks good and all that good stuff, but im so for real that i cant lower my car with the kit i have and the roads i drive on. I know you guys will say "just lower it a little" but man i cant. I scrape daily anyways.[&:]

why are you getting new LCA's? pick out your sway bar first, you might not need them. Some people do it for looks and weight savings, is that what you're after?

yeah looks would be nice, not too worried about weight reduction though. I was asking up there though if they would be an performance difference with new LCAs?

i didn't lower my car for looks.

lowering your car instantly lower's your car's center of gravity, thus reducing polar movement (body roll), which makes you corner flatter and faster.

lowering your car can also sharpen your steering if you tune your front and rear weight bias correctly, reducing FWD's inherant heavy understeer tendencies.
