Default Tire question -- 86H and Michelin

Hello,

I need new tires for my 2003 Honda Civic LX. I did the research and have my heart set on getting Michelin HydroEdge tires. I went to Costco (since they have a promo for $60 off right now in Canada) and they put in my car details and told me it was a P185/70R15. I told him I thought it was a 65 so he asked me to check the specifications from the sticker inside the door as Honda is notorious for having different suspension configurations on some of their models. Sure enough my LX is a P185/65R15 86H. Well, the problem is Michelin does not make an H speed rating on the HydroEdge. It would be an 86T. He recommended the BF Goodrich instead (that is 86H) as I might find the handling not to be as good since the Michelin is not rated H. I called my local Honda and they said it was not a problem (in fact, when I asked they recommended the Michelin HydroEdge before I even mentioned the 86H issue). But I'm not sure I trust the guy I got on the phone at Honda, but perhaps Costco is overstating the handling issue and just covering their butts in case of a problem. I'd like to know if anyone here has put on T rated tires for a Civic that has an H rating? Is it something I need to worry about? My wife drives this car most of the time, there is no street racing or "mods" of this Civic, just a regular Sedan. Thanks for any tips!

Get the Hydroedges. Dont worry about the speed rating. You will not see a difference since you are not pushing the car.
