Default Tire Width?

Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, but I have some Cooper Zeon ZPT 215/40 R17s on my car right now. I'm looking to get a new set of tires and I was wondering would somehow some 205/40 R17s would fit on my Motegi wheels. I like my wheels, but I don't like with width so much.

205-40 will work perfectly

Assuming you have a 92-00 civic and 17x7 wheels, 205/40-17 is actually the proper tire size for your car. And stick with the Zeon ZPTs; great tires

Ok, thanks. I was reading around here that some people did not suggest 215s because they rub too badly, but that was what was on my car. I need to replace at least two of the tires, and I think the 205s maybe cheaper than 215s.
BTW, my car is a 97 Civic DX I do believe that it is a 17x7 rim on there now. Any opinions on the Motegi wheels I have? I will post pics later.
