Tires
I'm looking at tires for the rims im ordering. What do the tread wear numbers mean. Like what would a number such as 420 mean vs one of 360 or 300. By the way, i am pretty sure im gettin enkei rs5 in silver and then powdercoating them later to possibly bronze with a chrome lip cuz i want my car white or black

RE: Tires
higher the number, longer the tire life, normally atleast.different companiescan rate differentlybut generally itsabout the same.
example of the ratings:
Falken Azenis RT-615's have a treadwear rating of 200. theira maxperformance tire which means its soft rubber and will wear pretty fast.
Falken Ziex 512's have a treadwear rating of 420. just a high-performance all season so the rubber isnt too soft and will last longer.

RE: Tires
You can compare ratings of the same manufacturer, but all bets are off if comparing one manufacturer's ratings to a different manufacture's rating. For example, Dunlop's 280 may be the same as Goodyear's 240.
As a general rule, the higher the number, the longer the treadlife, but the worse the handling.
Also, be careful when having aluminum powder-coated. Some alloys, like 7000-series will be severely weakened by the high temperatures required for powder coating. Call the wheel manufacturer, if possible, and ask how high a temp their wheels can be subjected to. Then ask your epoxy powder coating place high high they need to heat the wheels.
